National Biographic

2024

National Biographic is part of a larger project that explores how national identities are shaped, remaining vigilant to the colonial and racist foundations that continue to underpin nation-states. By reworking iconography from National Geographic magazine—a historical source for Western perspectives on “other” cultures—Daniela Tinoco creates a space for people to come together and share their own counter-narratives. Through this collective reclamation of agency, solidarity is fostered among SFSU community members engaged in various struggles of resistance.
